It can be funny how you stumble across art/artists online. One day I was on Dribbble and noticed that “Bible” was a common tag for many of my designs on there. I decided to see what else was on Dribbble tagged as “Bible.” And that is how I came across the amazing work of Chris Koelle.
Frank Chimero is an illustrator, designer, writer and teacher working out of Portland. He has an incredible ability to take big or complex ideas and communicate them in a simple way. I was digging Frank’s work a lot during my Haggai design and all of my Matthew designs.
Mark Weaver is an Atlanta based designer/illustrator. He’s got a great vintage style and is known for repurposing public domain images and geometric graphs/diagrams.
I love the work of Jeff Gill. Jeff is an illustrator/designer originally from Tucson, Arizona and now living in the United Kingdom working as a Children’s Pastor. Not only is he a great illustrator and designer, but he’s a really good writer.
Brian Danaher is an art director/designer from Minneapolis. and he’s done some great agency work and, more recently, some awesome concert posters.
Troy DeShano is a designer from Michigan and runs the Strong Odors web site. Troy shot me an email a while back with some encouragement about Word. I started digging around his web site and was blown away by his design and writing. There’s a lot of good stuff to check out on his site, but what really hooked me was his self-project.
Burlesque of North America is a Minneapolis-based graphic design and screen-printing studio. They do some really cool concert posters and also produce some great local Minnesota flavored designs. Check out their work and visit their site. Find Burlesque here: Web Site GigPoster.com Portfolio Facebook Group
If you enjoyed the recent post about the concert posters of Aesthetic Apparatus, you’ll like the work of Amy Jo. Similar to AA, Amy Jo is a screen print poster designer working out of Minneapolis. Amy Jo does a lot of great concert posters as well, and has also done a lot of really cool poster designs for the Minnesota RollerGirls.
Besides having a really sweet name, Aesthetic Apparatus is a Minneapolis design studio and are most well known for their awesome screen printed concert posters. They’ve been rockin’ the Twin Cities poster design world since 2002 when Dan Ibarra and Michael Byzewski relocated to Minneapolis from Madison, WI.
I stumbled upon the work of Philip Davis through Flickr. He’s got a beautiful crisp, clean and textured style that I love. He’s currently designing his way through the book of Psalms on his Tumblr site. I really like the visuals he’s pulling out of the verses. Below is a sampling of a few of his Psalms designs. You can also see more of his work on his Flickr account.
